Find answers to common questions about how the Focus Crossroads Research Network works, how participants are selected, and what to expect.
General Questions
What is market research?
Market research is the process of gathering information about consumers, businesses, and markets to help companies make better decisions. Research participants share their opinions, experiences, and professional knowledge through interviews, focus groups, surveys, and other study formats.
What kinds of research studies are available?
Studies include focus groups, one-on-one interviews, online discussion boards, product testing, usability studies, and advisory boards. The format depends on the client's research objectives and can range from 30-minute phone interviews to multi-day online communities.
Who can join the Research Network?
Anyone can join. We have two paths: the Expert Network for business professionals and industry specialists, and the Consumer Panel for everyday consumers. Whether you're a C-suite executive or a stay-at-home parent, there are research opportunities for you.
Do I need to live in New Jersey to participate?
No. While some in-person studies take place at our facility in the NYC metro area, the majority of research studies are conducted remotely via phone, video, or online platforms. We work with participants across the entire United States.
Study Qualification & Compensation
Will I qualify for every study?
No. Each study has specific criteria — industry experience, job title, demographics, product usage, or other qualifications. Our recruiting team matches studies to participants whose profiles fit the requirements. You'll only be contacted for studies where you're a potential match.
How often will I be contacted?
It depends on your background and the studies we're running at any given time. Some participants hear from us several times a month, while others may be contacted less frequently. We will never spam you — we only reach out when a real study matches your profile.
Are research studies paid?
Yes. All research studies offer compensation for participants' time. Payment amounts vary by study type, length, and complexity.
How much do studies pay?
Compensation varies widely depending on the study format and time commitment. Consumer studies typically pay between $75 and $250, while professional and executive studies can pay $200 to $500 or more for specialized expertise.
How is compensation provided?
Payment methods vary by study and may include checks, digital gift cards, electronic transfers, or other methods. Payment details are always provided before you agree to participate in a study.
Privacy & Your Information
How will my information be used?

Can I update my profile later?
Yes. You can contact us at any time to update your profile information, change your contact preferences, or add new professional experience that may qualify you for additional studies.
How do I stop receiving invitations?
You can opt out at any time by contacting us directly. We'll remove you from future study notifications. There is no obligation to continue participating once you've joined the network.
